I just played the Clifford Brown Fest and spoke with Larry Young, Jr. He was talking about a new club in Wilmington. Is this the place?

David,
Sorry for the delay. I have been busy and not on the forum much. Yes, the Nomad is the place. I think I missed you. When did you play that week?

SAKURANBO @Chofu. The owner calls his place "the world headquarters of the trombone" and is a huge fan of George Roberts.
Saw Watrous there last fall.

Sad to say, but the Jardines Jazz Club in KC closed a while back, the owner had some issues with drugs, not a pleasant situation, to say the least.

Hi,
I have been travelling to Algeria recentily and have planed to travel quite a lot in the near future...
Is there someone that knows about the existence of a Jazz club in Alger or Oran?
Or, at least of a music bar...

I think I sat in with them once. Do you go in the place and it's downstairs...a little stage? I remember a spot like that in Toledo, I think. many years ago. Cool band.

Last week, I was at the Pannonica Jazz Club and played 3 nights with the owner Ali Perret, who is a great pianist and composer.
Great jazz club. Please stop by if you are around. You won't regret.

Brisbane Jazz Club AUSTRALIA
1 Annie St, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
Phone Number: 07 3391 2006
A beaut place for anyone visiting Brisbane to hear great Aussie (and sometimes international) jazz.
It is especially interesting for tourists because of its unique location on the banks of the Brisbane River, just across from the City Centre. It is fiercely proud of its reputation as a jazz club and as one of Brisbanes Top Ten live music venues creating a national and international reputation, far greater than the size of the building would indicate.
The back of the bandstand is a glass wall overlooking a spectacular view across the Brisbane river to the City centre. It is a fantastic venue to play, which I will be doing again in January with the Redland Big Band.
http://www.brisbanejazzclub.com.au/
This a video I shot at the club with jazz vocalist Jacki Cooper and husband John Morrison (brother of James) on drums:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLUM835Ut8s
And these are some snippets of the other big band in which I play, The Kate Street Mob playing the Brisbane Big Band Festival at the club:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUlnDTAmGf8
So, come on down and visit Brissy on your way to the Great Barrier Reef. There are also great jazz clubs in all Australian cities but I will leave the details to other Aussie members.

Showing live jazz since 1959!
Right on the south bank of the Thames, this is a lovely old pub with an excellent Thai restaurant attached to the jazz club. Recommended.
(No, I don't hold shares in it....)
I love the Bulls Head

Two days in Key West isn't enough time to experience the island but it would be better than a one day stay. This here will save you a little time when you arrive. Find the area of Whitehead and Duval Streets between Truman Ave. and Eaton St. I haven't been down to KW in over twenty years but that area looked the part of anything having to do with nighttime jazz or any other music.
Moped rental should still be available for easier exploring of the place - it's about 7 miles long and about 2.5 - 3 miles wide. Chances are a few places are still open until 4:00 a.m.
Slightly less than three weeks is the perfect amount of time for a trip to Key West..........bad thing about that is that it won't be cheap.

Jimmy Mak's in Portland, Oregon closed up. The owner (Jimmy) was going to relocate because the property is being sold, but he's ill, so it all done. What a shame...

Here in Rochester NY we now have the Pythodd Jazz Room named after a club that existed in Rochester in decades past.

I played there last week. Unfortunately since the refurb it seems the music is there despite the pub rather than because of it. There's nothing in the main bar to suggest there's a venue out back, or anything on the street to try to pull people in.
It's always been a variable audience (sold out way in advance for known names, two people and their dog for killing yet unknown players), but it seems worse now that it used to be.
