Frank Rosolino's Gloomy Sunday

Post by BMajor17 »

Hello All,

I was just wondering if anyone knew if an arrangement of Frank Rosolino's feature piece with Supersax, entitled Gloomy Sunday (a.k.a the famous Hungarian Suicide Song) existed? I would love to perform this with a Big Band, however I can't find a single shred of sheet music for any aspect of the performance anywhere. Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Even if if the 5 part sax harmony chart was available, you'd then have to flesh out to be for an actual big band. A bit of a headache.
Another idea is just to take the chart Gloomy Sunday lead sheet, and arrange it for big band yourself, and then apply some of the Rosolino influence ideas over the solo section. That actually might be a bit easier.

Or may you could marry some of Rosolino and Supersax to Pete Rugolo's arrangement for Charlie Barnet. I could acquire that big-band chart for you.
