Modern .485 leadpipes?

Say I wanted to modify one of my Olds trombones. Where would I find a leadpipe? If someone like MK Drawing doesn’t make one I’m sure one could be custom ordered. Could one of those cheap YSL354 pipes be cut down to fit or would that end up being a super short pipe? A source of old Bach 6 pipes anywhere?

The YSL-354 pipe is for an 0.500" bore -- too big.  Maybe you can get one from a Conn 18H Director or King 605 Cleveland.

I'd start with a King 2B pipe and flare out the end to fit. Are they two piece though? Not sure if it would be an issue.

Shires pipes are my go to though. I used a 485 #2 in my Conn 36 and loved the way it played. It's a little pricier though.

You could probably find a pipe from a Martin Committee easily enough; they are .484 bore.

Forgot to mention the Brassark pipes. They have a 2B replica it looks like now but also their alto pipe is for a horn slightly smaller than a 485 but I believe Brad has mentioned he coudl expand it to be 485.

I had to have the leadpipe replaced for a 4H (.485). John Sandhagen ordered it from Allied.

Shires! That’s the size for their altos. I use a 1 and also have 1.5, 2, and 2.5.
