Is anyone building a great 88H copy these days?

I have to say... the Gen II 88H's from Eastlake Ohio are pretty darned nice.  They have the King valve - which is excellent.  And they can be picked up at reasonable prices.

For sure - don't put that stuff in a valve of any type.  It is designed for spindles, linkages, keys, etc.

I would choose between Hetman Rotor #12 and Hetman Light Rotor #11.  But, really, this is a question for Olson...

I would stress that bending your slide tubes so they are non-parallel should be viewed as an even MORE temporary fix than using thick grease.  (The thick grease could be long-term, actually.) 

You should give your horn to a tech.

Nick, your description of the Benge 1.25H was right on!  Most 1.25 sized mouthpieces feel just a bit too big.  Not this one.  Plays and sounds great!

I have played a bunch of 50B's made between 1966 and 2000-ish.  They were all identical in terms of tuning slides.  So, perhaps Bach shortened them sometime after 2000...

I know some of the new ones have an Infinity valve.  I am asking about 42's made just a few years ago that seem to have a more traditional Thayer-type valve.
