Reginald Chapman - Bass trombonist

Post by Bach5G »

A new-to-me bass trombonist from NY, Reginald Chapman, killing it on Donna Lee:

(A BAC bass - I thought all those bends in the tubing of the attachments were bad and open wraps were necessary for a smooth air flow or something like that. Nice looking work by Mike Corrigan).

Lots of interesting stuff in his website:

Chops for sure!!

Air does not behave the same as sound wave in regards to "flow"!!
Closed wraps play just as well as open wraps if built carefully!!

I was in undergrad with Reggie. He’s been doing this for years, and it’s nice to see him get recognized on a large stage. Very happy for him.

My students have been talking about his work with No BS Brass for a few years now. Chops for days!
