Need help ID vintage silver CG Conn Trombone

Post by Kylie »

We purchased a used trombone for my son to use in school a few years back. It is a vintage CG conn with an engraved bell. My son no longer uses it and wishes to sell it. I added a few pics. Serial number 364615. We do not have the original case.

Thank you in advance for any information!

The serial number dates to the 1940s and I think that 2 figure stamp on the slide tenon reads 4H.

This is a rather small bore instrument. Beautiful engraving. Bell looks to be smaller than 7.5".

Problem is that there is not much call for a horn this size. If you already have a large bore instrument it might be good to use in a jazz band on lead or with Dixieland. Not a good horn to be your principal. Also, these don't go for very fancy prices. If it's in really good condition you might be able to get $300 for it.

This horn size is perfect for popular music.

It's a song played on a 4H.
And it's also great for Frank Sinatra-like stuff, so I'm sure you can sell it quickly.
