The Backward Facing Slideless trombone

I spotted this unique trombone on Gumtree for sale by Cash Converters (a local pawn shop chain).
It's a quality Besson International trombone.
Only asking $800 AUD and it's still available. :biggrin:

Backward facing? Depends on where you put the mouthpiece.

When I played Der Ring Ohne Worte, the trombones were asked to cover the parts for animal horn calls (originally on stage). We were playing the concert on German trombones, so we used our normal trombone bells without the slide, like the above picture, for those calls. So you never know, this might come in handy :lol:

Jack Teagarden often played the final chorus of “St James Infirmary” by taking off his bell, and playing into a water glass held on the tenon. Here’s a YouTube of one of the best recordings:
