Using Elliott system, 51B Schilke E or D cup

Post by jph »

Well, I guess Doug might be THE expert here, but I am trying to get a good guess on the cup depth of the Schilke 51B large bore. Looks more like an E to me, but perhaps it is even shallower...more a D depth? Any opinions?

Yeah, something around there... I also have a D+ that's a nice size. For large bore I would go with an E, for any small shank you might prefer D or D+. The D+ cup uses E shanks

Thanks Doug and King2b. Based on my distant yesterday-world familiarity with E sizes (e.g. 6 1/2 AL, 51C4) the 51B looks to be around a D+. I just picked it up a few days ago.

I moved to the LT-D from a small shank 51B and use it on Conn .522" horns after talking with Doug at ITF 2018. The full combo is in my signature.
