HA! Yes true. Maybe I'm out of touch-didn't go on Monette's website but it just seemed like they've gotten more expensive.

Those are used, so I guess you are paying for not having to wait months to get the mouthpiece?

They're coming from japan. The prices on everything trombone from japan on ebay are much higher than anything in the US.

So for a large instrument I figure the shipping will be a lot. But why the up-charge on a mouthpiece??

The horns are the same way. Something about the exchange rate or something. Plenty of beat up 50Bs for 3800 dollars, that kind of thing.

I'm sure they think the same things about how we price their Whisky.

So, I placed an order for a BT1 on October 28th, 2019. Still have not received it. Called every month after the third month, and they don’t seem to be in any hurry to produce. If it goes past April 28th (six months), I’m going to cancel.
That into consideration: I wouldn’t buy anything from the orient right now. They’re basically making the value based on the wait domestically. I offered $300USD for the BT1, and they turned it down.

Prices from Japan on Ebay have been like that for years. Nothing new.
