Shires 6.5 ALS

Post by johntarr »

What’s the shires 6.5ALS like compared to a Bach 6.5AL?

Thanks for any insights,

Shires rims are very flat and sharp. I can’t get over the rim

A friend gave me a Shires 7C and I couldn`t get it to work for me.
The rim was really uncomfortable and I couldn`t get notes to slot to save my life.

Restarting an old thread but I just got a Shires USA 6.5als for my medium bore and it's not that bad. I know Pickett makes them now but does any know how it compares to Pickett's own line? Same rim design and cup depth?

The shires mouthpieces are heavy, flat rimmed, wide rimmed, and tight. Too much metal all around

That mouthpiece came with my Shires.
It sounds good with the Shires, not so good with the Lawler (a little flat). For me it doesn't feel as perfect on my lips, as my Klier does.
It's in the mouthpiece drawer, now!
