Just For Copper Glue

Post by FullPedalTrombonist »

Just For Copper JFC050 1.85 Ounce Solderless Copper Bonding https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000VHYRGA/re ... rEbM7SVEV2

Has anyone used this or thought to use this for some small quick fixes? I’ve heard some tuba folks using this for some fourth/fifth valve extensions and triggers. I can solder decently enough to redo a popped joint or something not to tricky, but adding a thumb rest or replacing a water key assembly... could be worth a try.

What do y’all think?

Looks sketchy to me. YMMV.

I would say no. Plumbing joints are mechanically secure before soldering. Your thumb rest or water key is not, and it gets a fair amount of stress.

FWIW, the tensile strength of solder runs 4,000 or so psi, as does JBWeld. Your copper glue is only listed at 1,000.
