King counterweight

Post by RobbTooley »

A friend (in the UK) is looking for a King counterweight - it would be to put on a 70’s 3B silversonic that feels a bit nose heavy. I think the older style looks better - would one of these fit? And are the only options sourcing an original one or purchasing from Hornguys or Hickeys? I wondered if these were more easily available now that the new Kings have reverted to the retro style weights?

When I was searching for a King counterweight 6-9 months ago, I had a lot of issues trying to find one. I ended up buying the one from Hickeys and it was fine. I too wanted an older 3-piece counterweight, but I was also impatient with limited funds.

Does anyone know if the older balance weight from the 90s/00s with the stickers is heavier than the one offered now?

Thanks for the info! Does anyone have approximate weights for the different styles?
