Bass trombone Gb/D paddle

Post by JLivi »

I need some advice.

I found a Getzen 3062 online and it doesn't have the 2nd valve paddle. I was able to find the exact paddle on Edwards' site, but it's $75. This horn is for a student of mine that will be going off to college next year.

My question is, should we spend the $75 to have the exact part to complete the horn, or is there a generic paddle I can get so save a little bit of money? Should i have my tech just solder a piece of metal to the rod? Would you try to save a couple of bucks if you were in my position or just get the original piece?

My thought is that, since it's for a younger student and $75 isn't that much in the grand scheme of spending $2500+ I should just get the original piece. Any thoughts and comments will be appreciated.

Since the paddles are usually adjustable it might be a problem soldering in place. Different folks like different placements.

Just my opinion.
