Edwards Bass leadpipe question

Post by bassboneman69 »

I have an “older” B3 leadpipe that does not have the “3 grooves” notched in the ring but rather lines cut into the ring as you would see on the obverse of a quarter.
Additionally the ring or collar seems to be slightly larger than the current leadpipe rings/collars.
Did Edwards/Getzen change the size at some point?

Quite possible that it was fabricated and knurled by a tech and not a factory loose pipe.

I don't know about size, but all of my (tenor) lead pipes have that style of knurling. Both of my slides were bought in '93 or early '94 (new, by me, so I know nothing was done to them).

This was during the time that Steve Shires was there, if that matters, though I think my last communication was with whoever was there immediately after him (whose name I can't remember right now).
