Finger rings

Post by Bach5G »

I noticed a ring for the left index finger on a Conn someone has listed for sale. These were also common on large bore Kings as I understand.

But evidently never caught on. Why not?

Most people didn't use them, and many had them removed. I use it and like it, but I guess I'm the exception.

They’re not very helpful. I’ve tried to use them but it just introduces a bunch of tension into the index finger and doesn’t help anything else.

I agree. Had one on my King 4B many years ago. Used it for about a week and found that it was very uncomfortable. I left it on the horn. However, just like Bruce, I know people who have had them removed.

Got one on my 4B. No issues, hand size and finger lengths will impact on potential benefits.

I have 1 on my King 5B. Sometimes I use it, sometimes I don't!
Am I a trombone player who plays euphonium, or a euphonium player who plays trombone? :idk:

I used to take them off. Now I leave them on. I think they are useful for a change of position now and then.

A local tech made these from trombone lyre clamps and some rings, can be used in different locations depending on the player’s needs. I do like it on the outer slide brace when my 7th grader has to reach to 7th.
