Trombone Nightmares

Post by SaigonSlide »

Warning: trombone geek out post.

I have had several trombone themed nightmares in the last few months.

They have been mostly about damaging the slides to the point that I can’t move it. Not sure why they are happening.

Anyone else have similar experiences?

What's going on in your life? Some major event coming, something causing anxiety? (don't necessarily share it here, but it sounds like either you've got a bit of fear of succeeding at something, or you're setting up an excuse not to do something, or you fear you've damaged a relationship, etc) An occasional nightmare is random but consistent ones are probably sending a message.

The more I practice and the better I play, the better my trombone dreams are. No kidding.

I dream of playing like Bill Watrous.
Does that count?

One time I had a dream in which I got a new trombone, but when I picked it up it flaked.... away.... like wax.
Another one was when a trombone started shrinking while I was playing it. I ended up with a trumpet sized trigger trombone :???:

I recently dreamt I was called to sub in NY, arrived, and found the David Geffen Hall stage door was no longer where it's supposed to be ... I woke up so stressed out!! But my practice session that day was seriously some of the best playing I've done in months.

I dreamed of the student trumpet I bought to fix up. It has minor dents and is now very playable, but in my dream the tubing between the mouthpiece and the tuning slide was flat, not round, and I couldn't fix it. Yeah, I'm weird!
