What's Frustration To You?

Post by Cotboneman »

My frustration is putting a small dent in the slide bow of a brand new Bach 42AF by banging it into a book case shelf while trying to do the right thing and quarantine practice! Maybe if I hadn't moved my music stand to vacuum the other day I wouldn't have been so close. I guess it has it's first battle scar. :x

Cleaning up the living room 5 minutes before bath time, going upstairs to start the bath only to come back down to find everything that was just put away strewn all over the room.

I had an associate who hated alto clef so much he'd make a photocopy of his music, white-out the top line of the staff, and draw a new line below the staff. Effectively changing alto clef to tenor.

Don't mean to brag but I'm the only person who doesn't loathe reading in different clefs and transpositions?

Some transpositions are worse than others. Reading a Db piccolo part can be trying (although maybe not on LIBrass's trombone ;) ).

Worst transposition I had to deal with was a Bb tuba (transposed treble part) on an F Tuba.

Want a challenge? Read a variety of horn parts on an alto trombone. Gets the juices flowing. I had just gotten my alto and brought it to orchestra rehearsal. Our principal horn was out and we were rehearsing the Wagner Siegfried. They handed me the "solo" horn part. It had multiple "muta"s (change of horn key). I managed OK with horn in C, Bb, F, and Eb. Then they had Horn in E and I lost it. :weep:

Frustration to me is orchestra managements that treat the musicians like garbage.

They are 5 and almost 2. There is a lot to enjoy but some other things I don't believe I will miss that much regardless of the time that passes.

Not as bad as hacking the second valve out of a Duo-Gravis.
