Pagliacci Road Map

Post by GBP »

Any opera players out there able to give me a road map to this? The recordings I have listened to seem to skip sections. I don’t play enough opera to know if that is standard or not. This is one of those last minute hires and would rather not work on parts that won’t be played. Any insight would be helpful. Thank you.

Different productions may put cuts into an opera in various places, while others play the complete work. Pagliacci isn't a long opera - unless someone official can supply you with any cuts that this production is using, you're better off learning it all. Better for next time, where there may not be cuts or they may be different.

Man, I was hoping for a secret handshake on this one. Bummer. Thanks!

According to Jim Pandolfi, you're definitely NOT supposed to drink real booze if you are the on-stage trumpet...
