Brass Quintet & Organ Music

Post by BrianJohnston »

Hi all,

I'm looking for recommended music for Brass Quintet & Organ. If any of you have any recommendations on what arr. are good, or have an idea of where I can look, i'd greatly appreciate. It's a Bach/Thanksgiving theme, so music that fits in that category would be especially helpful.

Thank you in advance,
- Brian

There's a great CD from the 90's (?) by the Empire Brass. Great arrangements where a lot would fit the theme you're talking about. I think some of those charts are available for purchase from their website - maybe a link to a publisher? If the website is a bust, see if they have a social media presence.

Another option: Mel Bay published a book called "Great Hymns for Brass" arranged for Brass Quartet (optional horn for 3rd) and in the same keys as most hymnals. Your quintet could play with the 4th part doubled in octaves between trombone and tuba, and the organ playing from the hymnal.

I had a bunch of nice Quartet with Organ pieces published by Concordia Press. They may also have quintet and organ.
