Marceau Trombone Dating?

Post by ttf_anonymous »

I recently picked up an old polished brass Marceau Trombone, and it has no serial number, all it has is some engraving on the tuning slide counterweight, the Bell, where the mouthpiece goes and where the bell attaches to the slide.
i'm assuming it's somewhere between 1918 and 1936.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Marceau was a stencil brand offered by Sears, Roebuck, and Co.; at least in the late 1920's, it was their middle line. There may have also been an actual maker with that name at some point. You might see if you can find anything over on horn-u-copia.net.

Oh Thank you! i didn't know that was even there. so it's either 1918-1920 or 1938-1939? it has the Czecho-Slovakia Engraving. and some Weird engraving on the counterweight, i'll attach a picture link, the picture is the same one as mine, but mine is all shiny. it's almost like Lacquer!

What a let down.

I thought this would be a thread about meeting lady trombonists.
