Well, they'll definitely be well made. James New is very good at making mouthpieces. I think the rim on these is more "Wick" like, so that may steer some people away automatically. I am however thinking about the 4G-5G, as that's just the type of mouthpiece I like, like a Hammond 11ML or Laskey 59MD.

I just ordered the 4g-5g. The gentleman I spoke with at Horn Guys compared it to a Greg Black, but that's Greek to me as I've never played on one.

After the first hour or so of playing on it (warm-up, Arban, Cimera) and listening to the recordings of it I am really impressed by this mp. Comfortable, great articulations, excellent range from low to high, and a balanced sound. I need to do more comparisons to the DE and Hammond.

I just ordered the B4g-5g as well, as well as the M-series 11C, and the Bass trombone LS. I really liked the L I got, and figured I'd get something a bit more BIG, but not quite 0G big.

I'm very interested in how the 11C will work out. They called it the "ultimate 11c" , and it should go great with alto and my 3B.

Got the B4G-5G, and the rim feel is definitely better than I anticipated. I read that it was "Denis Wick" like, but I find it's much closer to the profile on my Hammond 11ML. Nice beefy mouthpiece with a good feeling rim. Seems a bit brighter than my Laskey 59MD. Once I get my tenor chops back in shape, I'll have to do some comparisons between the Ferguson, the Hammond, and the Laskey.

A little off topic but what about the Ferguson 11 David?

It's nice! I've only used it a few times, so I haven't really gotten to make a good comparison with my Faxx 7C and Bach 6 3/4C yet, but I hope to this weekend. I'll be trying it out with my King 3B and Bach 39 Alto.
