Getzen 3047AF Serial Numbers
Hello all,
New to TromboneChat. Looking forward to many great discussions.
I have been researching my Getzen 3047AF and trying to figure out how old it is. I stumbled across one of those serial number sites that said all the Getzen serial numbers begin with letters. My serial number appears to be G4 (picture attached). Can anyone confirm that this is the actual serial number and does this really mean I own the 4th Getzen 3047AF ever made?

Nope that is the number used to keep the slides together. The outer slide will have a G4 on it too. That horn should have a number after the 3047 on the part of the bell near the cross brace.

Thank you for the information. The only number on the bell throat near the cross brace is 3047AF. There is a number on the AF valve (3047-2427) but I assume that is a part number.
Any other thoughts on where I can find a serial number?

Re: Getzen 3047AF Serial Numbers
My old Getzen only had the 3047 model number on the bell. As far as I’m aware that number on the valve is the serial number (at least it’s what all the paperwork from the shop I bought it at listed as the serial). My was purchased in 2015 so I don’t know if the older ones had a different system for serial numbers. If it helps narrow down your hunt for the age on yours the serial on mine was 3047-34XX
(I don’t remember the last two digits)

Mine is 3047-42XX, and I believe it dates from around 2012, but I'm not certain of that (bought used).

Oof, is that a dent on the tenon? If so you might want to get that fixed.

Yes, and I’m very ashamed to say I don’t know where it came from.
Thank you everyone for the info. Much appreciated.

I hate when that happens. But, it happens. Easy fix, and should make the horn stick together better. One of those horns was on the top of my list until the Bach 42T came out in the old days. I kinda wish I'd gone for the Getzen, Probably would have been cheaper.RedStickTrombone wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2020 6:06 pm Yes, and I’m very ashamed to say I don’t know where it came from.

I am actually looking to sell it; downsizing to a Bach 36. Are you interested?

Unfortunately not, I have three big bore horns, and these days I'm definitely looking to get away from axiail flow valves. When the Valve in my Bach 42T goes it's most likely getting replaced with something rotary like an Olsen Valve. or Meinlschmidt Open Flow.RedStickTrombone wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 11:37 pm I am actually looking to sell it; downsizing to a Bach 36.
