Holton 65

What does anyone know about this trombone? I saw its the Buddy Morrow model and from what I can tell, it's a 485-500 dual bore. Anything else? Found one for $250 obo

Buddy used this model to play all the Tommy Dorsey solos (and play them well). It's a competitor to the King 2B, Conn 4H, etc. Great lead bone horn in Jazz Band and also a good Dixieland Band horn. Holton made quality instruments in their day.

It's not a common instrument these days, but it's a professional jazz horn with its own sound and $250 is a great deal for one.

I have a Holton 63, which is similar. It was way more open than my old Jiggs 2B.

These horns are undervalued for sure.

I have a Holton 65 that I picked up a couple months ago. I was looking for a smaller horn similar to a King 2B - the Holton 65 was quite a bit cheaper than a used 2B (I paid $275 for the 65).
I believe there were different variations as Vegasbound mentioned. I think mine is from the 1940s (complete serial number not readable). It is dual-bore and has a 7" bell. I think later variations had a larger bell. Mine plays really well in the high register, but is quite open in the low register as well. It is a great lead horn.
