I play lead in a decent local big band on my 3B. I didn't think I was going to make last night's rehearsal due to business trip and told the leader last week. Found out at the last minute I might be able to go so called him to see if he needed me. He had moved our regular bass bone player, a retired band director, to lead already and asked me to bring my bass. I had played the TR-180 only once in the last three years, so I was a bit worried. I had a great time! I forgot how great that big bruiser sounded, how smooth the slide was. It was also nice to be the anchor instead of the lead for a change, a lot less pressure. Also, one of our other regulars was in Hawaii and a new guy sat in. Nice guy, great player, bitchin' Edwards horn. We bonded right away.
Had a blast doubling last night!
