Bach 8 leadpipe

Post by dukesboneman »

Has anyone ever copied a NY Bach 8 leadpipe? They always played so big and open

I have a MV 8 that is quite stuffy. I wish it played "big and open."

I have a NY 8 that fits the open blowing description. Always thought it was an amazingly big playing small (7" bell) horn. My dad traded a reel to reel recorder to one of his students for it when I was in high school. Pretty heavyish brass in the bell, thick, focused, dark sound. Really projected (stuck out) in marching band.
