I'm curious as to how folks feel about the tone quality of Butler Trombones. I have two, a .508 and .547 bores. The .508 is still a little stiff in the high register. I replaced the lead pipe with a sterling #3 and it made a huge improvement in sound and respose...all good. It took a while for me to learn the horn. The tone quality is fabulous and I've received numerous positive comments from colleagues.
What do you think?

I have the bass, and I find the sound quite good. I was finding it a bit unfocussed in the mid to upper register, and I think this was because it offers a bit less resistance than I’m used to. I switched from an Edwards #2 to an Edwards #1 mouthpipe. That improved the sound and/or response. To my surprise I’m not sure how much is sound and how much is response. Anyway, it improved.
