Why no Bach Artisan Hagmann

Post by Sallardbm »

The post is basically the title. Does anyone know why Bach does not list the Hagmann valve as an option for their artisan line? Is this something they would do only at the factory or is there something else I am missing? I have seen hagmanns on wraps very similar to the x-wrap so don't think it would be a physical reason...

No demand for it? Profit margin isn't as large on Hagmanns? Who knows?

They're modular so it's certainly possible to have a Hagmann Valve section built, most likely by a skilled tech with experience in custom trombone work.

Probably the lack of valve availability from Hagmann...
And/or no demand....

That would be my guess. Hagmanns are really expensive. Why offer it when you can gear people towards valve you make yourself for a lower cost (and therefore larger profit margin).

I'm not sure why demand would be too low. 42A's aren't particularly rare. Definitely less popular than axials of course, but not so uncommon either. Clearly enough demand for them not to discontinue the 42A

I'm guessing they're betting that people who really want an Artisan model will accept the valve options they offer, and people who really want specifically a Hagmann valve will be happy to just order a 42A, and that they're not losing much business by not advertising it for the Artisan line.

It's the other way around. Hagmann is reluctant to be associated with Bach lol
