Greg Black 5G

Post by bubba7753 »

Does anyone know how the GB 5G compares to the Bach 5G. Do I need to invest if I already have a bach 5G. All help is appreciated. Email me if you have a GB available.

Deeper, very different mouthpiece. Not that it's easy to compared to the zillions of variations in Bachs of course.

Yeah, definitely different. There are also a bunch of variations just within the Greg Black 5G "line".

As published, the Bach 5G has a 25.50mm cup diameter with a .276" throat.

The Greg Black 5G has a 25.80mm cup diameter and .281" throat

Due to differences in rim shape however, they may FEEL about the same size.

You can get a Greg Black 5G in a .277 throat (which is more similar to the Bach 5G megatone). My gut tells me the Greg Black 5GSD in .277 is probably a tad closer in terms of specs to a standard 5G...but two drastically different mouthpieces for sure.
