Yamaha Canadian Brass Comparison

Post by BadBoney »

I'm looking for a Yamaha Canadian Brass mouthpiece. I borrowed one, and it plays especially well on my 88H, but it's not available and there don't seem to be any for sale that I can find. (I did find one at a shop in Australia and am waiting to hear back from them.) I can't even find the specs for one. does anybody know of something that is comparable?

I am fortunate enough to own a Yamaha "Canadian Brass" trombone mouthpiece. But it's not for sale.

I play it with a (non-Remington) Conn 88H slide and a beautiful Getzen "Canadian Brass" CB20 Bell (8.5" diameter, silver-plated, no F-attachment). They are a great match together.
Mouthpiece specs:
• Rim I.D.: ~25.42mm / 1.001"
• V-Shaped Cup (preferred by Gene Watts)
• Throat: 7.15mm / 0.281"
• Backbore: Rather wide. (Standard Yamaha large-shank backbore?)
• Shank: Standard large-shank taper

I sold the one I had to a friend that swore it felt similar to one of the Lindbergh CL pieces…. Not sure I concur with that now, but it made him happy and I sold of a mouthpiece that I never liked, so…

Cheers,

Not to me. Very different animals, though both have somewhat V-shaped cups.

Not my favorite mouthpiece (I guess I'm no Gene Watts), but it seems cool to play it with my shiny Canadian Brass silver-plated bell.
Getzen bells match perfectly with Conn slides.

I had one years ago. Very V shaped cup, pretty small diameter rim. Never found a horn it felt at home in.

Turns out the guy who let me try it out is going to sell it to me. Thanks for the info.
