does somebody know somebody who makes nice bell engravings in Europe?

Nowadays most are done by people with laser engravers.

Sadly the skills needed for the real deep engravings have been lost in a lot of areas. The laser engravers are nice, but I don't know if they can easily do the same depth and variation seen with hand engraving.

Most factories use CNC diamond tip engravers for stuff like this. Or, acid etching for logos. Lasers are not used by any makers that I'm aware of.

The examples in the photos were done using both wriggle and straight push cut hand engraving.

Here is a video of the Getzen shop engraving a bell.

I know someone in England (Basingstoke) that does this by hand. She did a really good job of one of mine - not cheap though... Doug
