Yes. I owned one, and was happy to sell it again. Heavy and cluncky, bad response. You work hard on this one for medicore results.

Also on owned a Chinese Yamaha 613H clone, then sold by Wessex Tuba, which was better in both build, response, intonation, and alignment of partials.

You get most value for your money if you find a used Yamaha, Conn, Bach. ... etc.

Don't spend your money on a Weril-made instrument. They are poorly built, difficult to get repair parts for, and generally just not good instruments.

What about the Wessex bass trombones? They look preatty nice and cost just a fraction of a Bach og Conn, but are they any good?

I'm assuming they won't hold up against a good used Bach 50, but those are hard to come by, so I'm considering buying a Wessex for fun and doubling in the future

Also check out the John Packer JP333 Rath Bb/F/Gb/D bass trombone. Cheaper, better and available! My friend has just bought one and loves it. It works in both Big Band and orchestral settings.

Cheers

I remember a neighbor who sold a Pontiac Bonneville that had a sign on the windshield that said "Wednesday Car". It intimated that by the middle of the week the workforce was "back in the swing" of doing what Detroit could very often do well in achieving what was ---- to build a great car. Mondays and Fridays were to be avoided. I don't think that there is much difference between cars and trombones except that you drive one and you blow the other ! In fact , with all the variables involved it should be a no-brainer to test drive [audition] the unit in question. I've encountered trombones with no leadpipe installed [Monday horn ?] and cars with no grease on the wheel bearings [Friday car ?]. And then ----- it has to fit the peculiarities of whomever is going to be its custodian for the next several decades. It is NOT a whole lot different than properly choosing your human companion for the next few decades, either ! No other's opinion matters more than YOURS ! :idk: Keep up the enthusiasm !
