Dual bores Bach 16 vs Conn 30H

Post by gregwaits »

I’m not sure if this topic has ever been brought up, the Conn and Bach dual bore models of similar bore.

The Bach 16 dual bore model was introduced in 1932. Bore size of .495 /.509

The Conn 30H Burkle was introduced in 1934. Bore size of .494 / .507.

It would be interesting to see a side by side comparison of the two models.

I briefly played a Bach 16 years ago. It was a nice horn. I liked it much more than the 16M. Ultimately I moved to the Conn 6H.

Sometime ago I picked up a 30H made in 1936. I have been playing it a bit around the house but have yet to bring it on a gig. It plays very nicely. Very responsive. With a near-.500 slide on top, going up to .507, it kind of feels like a tricked out 6H.

A 16 top tube is .495, not .485
