FWIW, I presently play a GB Alessi 5M on a large bore tenor.

I use a 1.5G but unlike Jay Friedman who uses one on principal trombone of the CSO on ocassion I use mine as a light bass. A 3G might be a good fit, but it depends on what result you are looking for.

I like my 2G or 1.5G, even when using a .562 slide, to stay on the smaller side.

Too large and the partials are just all funky,
