Anyone got a favorite? I'm partial to Lindberg's, although the piano seems to drown him out a lot of the time.

Do you mean hindemith sonata? If yes, I think the one Mark Lawrence did is fantastic.

Robert Gillespie did a nice recording, I`m partial to it as that recording was my introduction to the piece

I like the Lindberg/Pontinen recordings. For once, the piano is as important to the recording as the soloist. Too many other recital type CDs have some bozo up there on the piano and it sounds like music minus one.

One of my go-tos is the Henry Charles Smith-Glenn Gould recording.  This was part of a collaboration with Gould and a number of the Philadelphia Symphony principals.  Mr. Smith had some very interesting stories from his work with Gould...

He hasn't recorded it on an album, but out of all of the recordings and performances I've heard of the piece I like Alessi's the most, quite a bit more brisk than most people take it. There are recital recordings out there, although maybe not that easy to find.

Interpretively I am a big fan of Ron Barron's recording.

Scott Hartman also has one that I like.  I also like Massimo LaRosa's recording.
