Conn 52H bell w/ which slide?

Post by ttf_Slidennis »

Got that bell for a while, and like it, but which slide do you, owners, use with and why?

- original
- SL 2525
- SL 2547
- SL 4747
- SL 4762
- SL 6262

???

I tried the original, the SL 2525, the SL 4762, and soon, the SL 2547...

Original with aftermarket leadpipe (Brass Ark MV36 in drawn nickel) works well for me. Briefly played it with SL6262, too, which was also fine for certain things.

What is the size of the F section tubing and/or rotor bore?

If you used a slide much bigger than that wouldn't it make the F section blow a little more stuffy compared to open?

I've only payed one with the stock 25/47 slide but I'd be tempted to try a 47/47 slide on it.

52H bell is a King 4BF bell. Slide in .547 gives you a King 4BF.

That would be a good thing.

Absolutely, Bill. Vintage vibe with a NEW slide to not be worn out.

If you look closely, you will see that a king 4BF bell has a different wrap than a Conn 52H bell.

When I turn the 0.547 " slide of my 8HT on the 52H bell, it will be a 52HL, he plays more like a Conn 88H, not like a King 4BF.
But I play the original dual slide (0,525"/0,547").
I have not tried the SL slides yet.
Just my opinion.

If the 52H has an unsoldered rim it will likely play more like the 88H than the 4BF.
