Three great-playing Elkhart Conns here!

1.  Conn 6H from 1961.  One-owner horn!  (Until I bought it.)  .500-bore.  The bells seem to vary a lot on 6H's.  This one would be on the heavier end of things.  GREAT player.  My tech addressed a few dings and aligned the slide.  The inner has lots of Conn-wear but it doesn't matter too much -- slide action is excellent.  Original case in very good shape.  $750 + shipping

2.  Conn 8H from 1959.  Very good shape.  .547-bore.  Horn is in the shop having some mute dings and tuning slide dings take out and slide tweaked.  Each stocking has a spot of plating wear that he will buff smooth.  I plan to leave the slide springs in.  I will have this one back on Wed.  Plays like you would hope an Elkhart 8H plays!  Original case in very good shape.  $1200 + shipping

3.  Conn 48H Connstellation from 1966.  .500-bore.  MINT!  This horn was used for one year and stored away.  Looks and plays like a brand new Connstellation 48H.  Slide is pristine.  Well, everything is pristine.  Original two-tone case and all the original goodies included.  $1200 + shipping

Tom,

The 48H indeed appears about as close to "mint" as I can imagine - especially for a 51-year-old trombone.  Excellent photography - wish that everyone's pics were as sharp and revealing.  Glad to see that you're back in the garden.  Cat must be on vacation?

Oh, no, the garden does not look like that today.  I took those photos about 6 mos ago.

Here is today's mess (with cat):

The workers have actually been very good about staying off the strawberries.  And the cottage was lowered onto its new foundation last week.  We will start remodeling the cottage itself in a few weeks.  And the mound of sand is just waiting for another debris box out front.  My daughter loves it.  Calls it "the beach."  But I have warned her that the cat is probably... using it...

Tom,

Have you applied to list "the cottage" on the National List of Historic Places?"  It looks as if it may qualify!

Our strawberry season is nearly over here in Southern California - we get ours from the organic farm down the road (since early February!) - and they have been fantastic this year.  The berries are getting smaller, and sweeter - but suddenly they will soon be gone.   Image

The cottage was built in 1909.  Construction costs were $300...

I think the strawberries around here peter out in August.  We spend the first half of August on the east coast; when we come back, they are over.  I have a garden over in the Mission district where it is much warmer and sunnier than my neighborhood.  The strawberries I grow there are delicious.
