.547" bore, 8 1/2" bell, rose brass. Very beautiful color- I get complimented on it all the time. Good condition. Just had the slide worked on last year, though it's not perfect. Maybe 7/10 (8/10 when freshly lubricated). Partly, it's just a heavy slide. This is no king 2b. This horn is dramatic and large.

A few small dings here and there on the bell section. Lots of lacquer wear on the hand grips. No dents on the slide. Slide springs still in great shape. Comes with original hard shell case. Case has some stickers, the metal reinforcement on the bell part is bashed up a bit, but other than that it's in great shape. Inside is immaculate. Also comes with a Remington mouthpiece, in very good shape.

The leadpipe has been opened up slightly, which drastically improved the high range and the free-blowing characteristic. I used to fight the horn a lot before that was done (by a really excellent bone player in Nashville, Roland Barber), and when I got it back from him I was stunned at how much easier it was to play, to hit high notes, to get a bright tone if I want it. Still very, very easy to play dark/mellow/beautiful/orchestral/LARGE. Mouthpiece selection makes a big difference too.

This here is a mighty fine horn. Mid-80s vintage, it sat in a shop in midtown Manhattan for years- my friend James used to work there, and he and his buddy would race to play it each time they got to work. Then I bought it, looking for that big-dark-beautiful jazz tone that Slide Hampton and my teacher, Steve Davis, get. It did the job for a while, but I'm developing my own sound now, and I'm looking for something different.

This would be a great horn for an orchestral player, a big band section player, someone looking for that big/dark/beautiful/modern trombone sound in jazz. Probably plenty of other applications I'm not thinking of!

$1300 shipped in the continental US. I'll accept offers. I'm also interested in trading for a really good King 3b, or a Getzen 3508y.
