At the risk of asking a stupid question, what the heck is that horn the Michael Mulcahy is holding in the photo on page 30 or the April 2017 ITA Journal? MJL

Maybe take a photo of that page and post it here? You will get a faster answer. Ive seen him rotate between a few when he has given me lessons. I think his favorite is a bach 42 with a shires thayer on it but Ive seen him play what I think is a bach with a greenhoe valve.
Having said that, if it is a photo of him teaching at an event far away from where he lives, chances are he hasn't bothered to bring his own trombone and has just borrowed someones. He does that when he comes to teach in Aus sometimes.

It looks like a Greenhoe of some kind with the F tuning slide pulled out. If you look at the bracing, it looks like the classic Greenhoe brace.

I think you are right. Now that you have suggested it, I see that greenhoe look in the bracing. thanks

Hmm... I wonder if I'm not the only guilty one who doesn't read many ITA articles and just peruses all the horn photos.

The forum seems to be distorting the image for some reason, but should be enough info here.

Might be his "B" attachment? He uses one in his practice.
