Many would disagree with the style of playing and sound (rather modern) or the choice of tempo, but setting aside esthetical debates, one has to admit that  the French have absolutely amazing technique.

One of Daniel's students played this at the Sacqueboutiers competition last fall, and he managed to play it even faster and cleaner. Was quite a sight to see (or to hear).

"Too many notes, Ortiz!"

That's a big sound for a sackbut isn't it? It sounds a lot like a regular trombone.

A modern mouthpiece in a sackbut will do that.

It's a big sound on the long notes but I think this has the problem that most hyper-technical trombone stuff has... it's more tongue than pitch on the short notes.

It's like that when people play Flight of the Bumble Bee.

Yup, a modern mouthpiece in a sackbut will also do that.
