Hello all,
Just curious as to what equipment people who are gigging in cover bands and wedding bands are using.

I love my Bach 36BO. I had it modified to accept both a G crook and an F crook. I can play whatever the part requires and the bari parts, too.

I use an Olds Recording. Was happy with the King 3B+ I used previously but just like Olds.

Yamaha 697z Or Bach LT16M. Sometimes I wish I had my Yamaha 446 with f attachment to make some things easier with the trigger but I get by.

Haven't played many gigs like this, but for a wedding gig I wouldn't hesitate to use a King 3BSS.
For a cover band, it might depend on who we're trying to cover.

Is a conn 6h the wrong horn for that sort of thing?

No way! That could be a great choice. I just like the not-tiny bore size of the 3B, and use the F attachment so much that not having one is a pain.

A 6H is actually slightly smaller bore than a King 3B, but not that much that it would make a difference.
An F-attachment is a convenience, but no wise necessary.
Sterling silver bell looks nice, but again is not necessary.

If I recall, the 6H has the mega square end crook. That's probably the biggest reason I couldn't personally adapt to that horn. I played one earnestly for about a week to try and adapt to a nice new horn I had access to, but it was better off on someone else's hands

There have been different specifications for the 6h model over time
