I have this old Bach 42 Stradivarius with two serial numbers.

They’re both different numbers. So which one do I go by?

Slide: 76891
Bell: 85031

According to this site https://www.bachbrass.com/resources/serial-numbers

The horn would be somewhere between 1985 and 1990. Am I reading this right?

I’ve attached a pic of the bell because my next question is... how feasible would it be to make a valve modification and making it open wrap along the way?

It is very feasible to make it an open wrap, but you don't get the desired effect unless you also swap to more open blowing valves. Rotax, truebore, Olsen, Hagmann or axials. Now it get expensive. Search this forum for info, this question is frequently answered. It might be cheaper to sell your bone and buy a used one with the valve setup you want.

LOL! (My bad).

A relatively cheap way to improve a standard Bach rotor is to have the ports opened up. Osmun Brass in Massachusetts used to charge around $100 to do this (maybe more now). If it's already been done, you won't get much improvement for less than $1000.
