MIDI Import Question - Shifting notes

My daughter sent me a MIDI file she wants entered into Finale and cleaned up. My problem is the tune starts on a quarter note pickup, but when I open it, the pickup note is on beat one. How can I shift everything so the first note becomes a pickup?

Thanks,

Import the file into finale so that the notation appears.

Add a measure onto the end.

Select and cut all the notes and paste so that the first one is a pickup in the first measure (ie, select the 4th beat rest and paste)

I don't have Finale, but this is how I'd do it in Sibelius.

That would indeed work in Finale.

Then you would go into the "Document | Pickup Measure" menu item to reduce the first measure down to the final quarter note.

Makes sense. I'll try it. Score is over a hundred measures long. Guess if I reduce the size so it all fits on the screen, that would work.

No need to zoom out or see the whole score at once. I think you just need to click the first note, hen scroll to tge final note, then hold [shift] and click the last note to select everything.

For future reference, drag-and-drop can be used to reposition notes in Finale.

In this instance, insert a pickup measure, select the notes/measures/stacks to be moved, click-and-hold on the first note of the selection, drag it to the left, and release when the mouse pointer is in the pickup measure. The music rebars automatically.
