Thread for 88h rotor

I had to tap (really hard) on the rotor spindle to get it to come out. No visible damage. After re-assembly I cannot get the retaining screw to start into the threads. Does anyone know what the thread is for the spindle on a 2014 88H? I have seen 3-48 mentioned but I want to be sure before trying to chase out the thread.

Thanks,

Yes 3-48, sometimes a quick GENTLE reaming with the tip of your screwdriver is all it needs to slightly swadge out the the end.

Thanks for the verification. I’ll try that.

Before you put that tap in the hole, check the retaining screw in 3X48 die just to be sure!

When threading screws into soft metals, I always turn it backwards first with some light pressure, which helps ensure it's properly engaged in the threads. I have a bunch of guitars, and that's how you avoid stripping out threaded holes in wood.

You said you had to tap the spindle hard. What did you use? If you don't have one, go to the hardware store and buy a small raw hide mallet. One with a head @1" diameter would be fine. Never use anything harder than that to remove the rotor. The raw hide will provide the force required to remove the rotor, but the face of the mallet will deform, so that the end of the spindle does not.
FWIW.
