Microphone Boom Stand Accessory

Post by ttf_JLivorsi »

I'm not sure if anyone can help me here, but I've had luck with similar posts like this in the past. I've misplaced a metal piece to my boom mic stand and was wondering if anyone knew where I could find another one? I don't want to buy a new stand or even a boom arm. I'd rather do a DIY version before I go the other route. Any ideas there would be helpful too!

I'm looking to replace the 3" metal piece with a ball at either end. It's the part that helps adjust the boom angle up and down.

Thanks!

Cheap solution:

Get a 3 inch long piece of threaded rod that fits into the hole.  Get 4 nuts to fit the rod.  Place two nuts at each end, tightening one agains the other.  Not balls, but it will work the same way.  Extra points if you can find a piece that is only threaded on the outer inch or so.

Yes!!! That is exactly what I was looking for. My mind isn't creative enough to think about easy DIY projects. Thanks!

Thanks Geordie, but I might as well buy a new boom arm if I plan on shipping the piece from England. But they had exactly what I needed.
