Conn small-bore nickel-silver slide

Post by Posaunus »

Does / did Conn make a nickel-silver outer slide for their 0.500" bore trombones (6H, 48H, ...)? :idk:

If so, how are they perceived (relative to gold brass / yellow brass handslides)?

I'm curious as well.

As far as I've researched CONN didn't make a mass market nickel outer slide. I my self have wanted to have one made, and have been told nickel slides will brighten up the sound.

Very interesting....I never considered that. Since the UMI merger, Conn and King have essentially been the same company. All of the King “pro” models have nickel slides.

I guess they thought they offered both options. If you want a nickel slide, go the King direction. If you want a brass slide, go the Conn direction.

May that be due to King having always offered nickel slides as a choice?

I've toyed with having my tech make me a nickel slide for my 6H, and the nickel tubes he can get from Conn-Selmer are for Kings and Bachs.
