Hello everyone. I need help identifying a vintage trombone. I purchased this at a yard sale about 30 years ago and the instrument seemed old even then. Was in high school at the time and paid $30 for it (remembered the price because that was a lot of cash for me at the time). It is a Holton of some kind. What struck me about the horn is that it is in almost mint (case is a bit rough though) and very dark in color. The brass is a much different color than the King I purchased new in 1990 for high school and college use. The coloring is very dark brass and the mouth piece has no numbers on it, but is a Holton Collegiate. The horn has a bright sound to it, with a noticeably smaller bell. Would appreciate any information about the horn.

I am attempting to post some pictures of it. Also placed the bell next to the King for co

ight above the "Made By" should be a pyramidal text saying "Collegiate".

Very popular student horn in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Given the friction fit, it may be a bit older than that.

Very cool. Will try and find more numbers on it soon. For reference, below is a picture next to the King. What are these things worth in near mint condition?

>> How much is it worth?

Not much. In pristine condition maybe US$300;. More likely half that.
