Andante et Allegro arr. A. Shapiro (Ropartz)

Hello fellow trombonists,
I'll be performing the A&A by Ropartz as my first semester jury performance at the University of Northern Colorado. It is all going very well. The only thing I can't seem to get is WHO on EARTH, "A. Shapiro" is! Many Google searches of a large variance of the same words turned up absolutely nothing on what "A." abbreviates!
If anyone knows, that'd be great to know. It's not necessary, but it's been bothering me for too long.
