Bach New York 7C (?)

Are these out there?

I have two New York 7s (which are WILDLY different, by the way-- one with the serif font and much "older looking" outer blank and deeper cup with the other, later one looking like a normal Bach), and an early (periods after the N.Y. and Mt.) Mt. Vernon 7c but have never seen a NY 7c. I've also seen a recent catalogue page from the NY era that only lists a 7, 11, 11c, 12c, 15c, and 22c as trombone options (hilariously, the 15c's description reads: "popular with women trombonists", and the 7's reads: "symphony mouthpiece"), but Bach was a custom mouthpiece maker so conceivably NY 7Cs are out there. Anyone got one? How old? Whassit like?

wanna sell it to me?

How cool! Yeah let me know if you find it. I'm glad to know they (probably) exist.

I used to have one. I normally use Mount Vernon 7C`s
I found the NY 7C to be oddly uncomfortable to play.
Could have been that one, but it was way different from the Mount Vernons

Here's mine. I don't play this size, but as Duke said above, it's got a pretty harsh bite to the rim- playable but definitely not your friend!

Oh wow. With the Serif and everything! Thanks for sharing. My old 7 has a similar font but an even older blank style. There was evidently quite the evolution during the NY era. Edit: sorry; it won't let me upload the pic. Here's a link. https://www.dropbox.com/s/dhpb4iakzyas7 ... 1.jpg?dl=0

I had a NY 12c that looks like your 7c that had a nasty rim too it, too.

I do have a New York 7 with a completely different blank, as well as a screw rim 11C with ANOTHER different blank... none of them match in the slightest!

Thanks for the info! The earlier MV 7c I played was also sharper than the later one, which is in turn sharper than the Corp ones I've tried... perhaps they just got rounder over time? Tooling maybe?

:good: How can one not be romantic about the old handmade days?

MIne also has a pretty sharp bite. That's what I liked about it... If I could play a mouthpiece that small I'd definitely use it on alto (or small bore if I ever played that).
