I would like any advice to remove the lacquer from a 1952 Reynolds Contempora Bronz-o-lyte bell with a silver krantz.  Should I just do it with the normal chemical methods. Is there a better way?  This is my first project of this type!  Thanks in advance for any advice!

Maybe a better question might have been do I polish this bell section first and then decide if I want to strip it?  Also, when I do strip/polish the bell what should I do about all of the nickle silver(very dull) trim and krantz.  Should I protect is or just strip/polish it as well?  Thanks,
Kevin

I tried every chem on the market to attack a vintage King trombone, and a 70s student model 606. Nothing worked.

Nothing, except a plain ordinary can of Easy-Off Oven Cleaner. It was spray on, effortless, and perfect. And available everywhere.

I've stripped a decent number of horns, I have found Ferree's Z22 cold strip will usually get off the REALLY stubborn stuff that nothing else seems to work on.

Oven cleaner works but it attacks solder.

I didn’t know that. Good thing I use Citristrip!
