Hi all,
I have been playing with a very old valve Trombone and could not find any identification on it until a young lady with better eye's then mine noticed the remains of a five point star with 5 straight line coming off the top and the three letters "DEM" below the star. There may be more letters before and after the DEM but if so, they have been worn away. It has a half inch bore with a six and one half inch bell. If there is anyone out there that could tell me the name or point me to a resource that could help me identify it I would sure appreciate it.
Jim

From the description, I would name it "Demosthenes" as a valve trombone is roughly the equivalent of talking with a mouth full of pebbles.

"horn-u-copia" is a source that lists a lot of brass instruments.
If I got it right, these are pictures of their valve trombones.

Maybe you'll find your horn here? Good luck!   Image

(Could be the search is not quite correct and doesn't show all of their valve trombones. You will have to find out yourself.)

I nominate "Heidi" as a name for your horn b/c if it's a decent horn and if you have been playing correctly for a while, you should be able to hit a high D on that horn without too much effort.
